Human Hierarchy

God breathed the breath of life into us and created a living soul (Genesis 2:7).

The embodied spirit is a soul. At first the spirit, soul and body were all one big happy family. Until Eve was tricked by the serpent into eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Then, she gave some to Adam who didn’t want Eve to feel all alone, so he ate. Humanity went downhill from there.

Why was it bad for Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit? For that very reason, because God told them that they could eat the fruit of all the trees of the garden except the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil or they would die. That was the death of the human spirit.

At first, the order of the hierarchy of the human being was spirit-soul-body. The human spirit had a supernatural ability to guide the soul which in turn directed the body to do its bidding.

After the fall of humanity in the garden, the human hierarchy has turned upside down. Now the body leads the soul while the spirit is basically in nonexistence due to the apostasy of not honoring Father God in the garden. When you don’t honor your father, it doesn’t go well with you, nor do you live long.

What happens to the human spirit once it dies? Rape, fornication, sexual immorality of all sorts. Anything goes because now the soul is being led by the baseless, vile flesh that’s nothing but dirt. The flesh takes over and wages war against the weak spirit we call human. The flesh took the reigns over the soul once the disobedience was done.

Don’t dismay. All hope is not lost. There is a remedy for the redemption of the human spirit and salvation of the soul. You must be born again. The born again nature comes to live in us when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. The Spirit of Christ renews, invigorates, wakes-up and re-establishes the reign of the human spirit by the awesome power of God.

Now the war is on…

The flesh doesn’t want to give up so easy. Not after taking the lead for so long. He’s gone for back-up. In part two, we’ll talk about this ostentatious war of the flesh against the spirit.
