What a Storm

On my way to taking my son to school this morning, my son remarked,

“Wow, it sure looks like a weird yellow color outside.”

I replied, “Yea, it seems like we’re wearing sunglasses, but we’re not.”

The day definitely had a yellow-brownish tint to it

As we drove nearer to the school, the skies started getting gray as the clouds bellowed closer to the ground. Just then I received a call from my mom. She said, “There’s a tornado watch over there.”

In which I responded, “Yes, the rain’s picking up.”

“Drop Manny off and get back home quick!” my mom exclaimed.

I assured her that we would get home as soon as possible and hung up the phone.
As we approached the school, suddenly the wind picked up dramatically and the rain started pouring down on us sideways that put our car into a state of stupor. We couldn’t move for what seemed like an eternity, but was in reality a whole five minutes.

The phone lines on the wooden poles across the street from us where swaying back and forth like a little toddler swinging a rag doll. Sparks of electricity were set ablaze like the fiery red eyes of Jesus Christ returning to earth.

I started calling on the Lord, “Please help us! Don’t let us die!”

I told my son Immanuel, “Pray, pray to Jesus, ask Him to help us:”

Soon, our gray Volvo wagon was full of prayer…I just hoped I wouldn’t start seeing cars tossed in the air like Texas tumbleweed.

Then, it was all over. The wind died down. The light poles ceased their sway, and all cars stayed put on that long Texas highway.

What a way to start this Valentine’s Day morning.

I would say that experience of God protecting us in the storm was a perfect example of His unfailing love towards us.

Thank you Jesus.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love healing hearts,

Shirah Chante
