The Heart’s Call to Give
Let’s explore Terumah, a sacrificial offering from the Torah portion that I talk about on my latest show of Perfect Body! podcast. What exactly is a sacrificial offering, and what does it mean to you? Imagine choosing to give not out of obligation, but from your heart. Well, a gift from the heart is a sacrificial offering. People may give in order to get tax deductions, or they may give because of guilt, but who do you know that gives from his heart? That kind of offering has the power to change lives, including yours.
More Than Just Material
Giving isn’t always about the tangible. Proverbs 19:17, “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed,” tells us that generosity is rewarded by the Lord. In my experience, God often pays you back beyond financial means. There was one offering where I gave sacrificially, and God gifted me with a huge blessing that I would have never prayed for. After I gave that sacrificial offering, through a series of events, I was led on a journey of deep, emotional healing from childhood sexual abuse.
Let me share my personal testimony. During a church meeting, I felt a compelling urge to make a sacrificial offering from my heart. Little did I know, God would repay me not with material prosperity, but with profound emotional healing. I carried a silent burden from having being violated as a child, and through this act of giving, God opened doors to healing for me that I never expected.
Sometimes, it takes a leap of faith and a humble offering to uncover the blessings waiting for you. Think about how you might offer a piece of your heart to God by giving an offering to those in need. The beauty of Terumah lies in its ability to transcend tangible gifts into an internal transformation.
How Can You Give Today?
I challenge you to think about how you could offer your heart to God and those in need through financial giving. Whether it’s supporting a local cause or a broader mission, let your heart guide your action of giving monetarily to those who need it. Your actions reflect love in the most powerful way, and God will pay you back more than you ever imagined. Until next time, love God, love yourself, and love others.
