Have you ever felt like you didn’t fit in? Guess what? You’re not the only one. It’s normal to wonder where you fit in. In your family, you might be called a sister or a brother, which means you are part of something special. In church, we call each other brothers and sisters too, because we’re all part of God’s family. Pretty cool, right?
A Story About Sarah
Let me tell you about Sarah. She was feeling lost and didn’t know where she fit in, so she joined something called the Egyptian Coup. She thought it would help her feel like she belonged, but it didn’t work out, and she felt sad. Can you see yourself in Sarah’s story? Sometimes, we all want to join clubs or groups just because we think we should. But the best groups are the ones where you can be yourself, without pretending or changing who you are.
Finding Your Right Place
I’ve been there, too. In high school, I joined a group called the Young Ladies of Distinction because it sounded distinguished. But to get in, they made us do silly things that didn’t feel right. I learned that real friends and groups don’t make you feel bad just to fit in.
Just like Sarah, you might feel sad if you’re in the wrong place. But remember, there are people out there who will like you just the way you are. It’s worth finding the friends who share your values and love for God.
Be True to You
It might seem like being popular is really important, but being happy is even better. High school is only a small part of your life, and it’s better to be true to yourself. Look for friends and groups that make you feel good and fit with what you believe in.
A Special Prayer for You
Before we wrap up, let’s say a prayer. Dear God, please help every young person who is listening to find their place where they can be true to themselves. Help them find friends who love them for who they are in Jesus name, Amen.
