I’m glad to have you here on our journey to uncover God’s plan for you and how you can follow it step by step. This is something we all think about, so let’s explore it together. Drawing near to God is like a special club where everyone is welcome. You, along with teenagers, parents, youth ministers, and anyone involved with young people can find their path to God here. We’ll explore this through a thoughtful poem I wrote, which acts like a roadmap guiding you to God. It’s called God’s Plan, and it inspires you to see how you can move closer to God in your daily life.
Who is God?
Getting to know God is like beginning a beautiful friendship. Just like I once wondered, “Who is God?” you might be asking the same. Years ago, I chased this question all the way to seminary, seeking to learn where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. studied, and ended up in Rochester, New York. That adventure was splendid, and each of us here is now on their own journey to connect with God. I’m overjoyed to have you walking alongside me in this quest.
God’s Command to Follow
Jesus calls his followers in a simple way: Follow me. Saying you’re a follower without truly doing what he says His is like pretending to join a band but never showing up for practice. The Bible guides us, and following its teachings is essential to be a genuine believer. We all stumble, but what matters is striving to grow every day in being more like Christ.
Honest Perfection
Perfection isn’t about having everything picture-perfect; it’s about loving people. True perfection in God’s eyes is caring about others, including those who may not be kind to you. God wants you to love deeply, even when it’s hard. You don’t have to be flawless to earn God’s love; it’s already yours. Your mistakes don’t define you; your willingness to get back on track is what counts.
Learning from a Poetic Journey
Listen to the poem God’s Plan I recited on my Teens podcast. It kicks off with the desire of resting in the arms of a long lost love but not being able to. I talk about falling off a bicycle when I was a little girl and busting my head. I was humbled, crawling on my needs back to my mom’s friend’s house. Just like in life we sometimes veer off our path, but our faith helps us find the way back in a humbling way due to the consequences of our misguided actions. I pray this poem God’s Plan, can be your guide, encouraging reflection and prayer to realign with God’s direction for your life.
