Hi! I’m Shirah Chante, exploring relationships with you through the art of music and love. If you haven’t yet, tune in to Relationship Rock podcast where we’re building lasting relationships grounded on a solid foundation, the rock of our salvation, Jesus Christ (Psalm 62:6). Today, I’m going to encourage you with the chorus of my song “Righteous Forsaken,” which I haven’t discussed in depth before.
I invite you to journey with me as we talk about my song Righteous Forsaken that came to me all at once over 20 years ago. Yes, that’s right. I did not have to labor over the words of this song much. “Righteous Forsaken” sprouted from a seed planted by divine inspiration, and since then, has remained mostly unchanged. This song draws heavily from Psalm 37:25, which beautifully states, “I have been young and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.”
I have to share that this song is one of my favorites that I have written. In it, I ask an important question: Why are you begging for bread? Our heavenly Father provides all our needs, as we ask Him every time we say the Lord’s Prayer. Do you know the Lord’s Prayer? It’s a gentle reminder that we are under His loving care: “Give us this day our daily bread.” God hears us and knows what we need before we ask. He promises to bless us exceedingly abundantly if we continue to love God and others as we love ourselves (Romans 3:20).
If you are feeling burdened by daily worries, I hear you; but more importantly, God hears you. Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:33, But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Worry not about tomorrow because tomorrow there will be trouble enough. God is here to provide, asking only that you trust him today.
All God asks is for you to seek His kingdom: love, joy, and peace. Let your needs be met naturally as an afterthought to your willingness to follow Jesus. This is the message I hope to convey through my song “Righteous Forsaken.” Remember to love God, love you, and love people.
God bless, Shirah Chante, Relationship Artist
