I’m here to explore some deep insights from the Torah Portion Vayakhel that can bring us closer to God and each other. Let’s dive into the wonderful message of giving from the heart and how it can change your life.
Discover God’s Personality Through His Word
Do you want to know God better? The best way to do this is by spending time with His Word. The Bible, especially the Torah, tells us about God’s personality and how He wants us to live. Just like getting to know a friend requires spending time talking and listening to them, understanding God involves reading and reflecting on His words.
Why Reading the Bible Matters
Some people think they know God just because they’ve heard a verse or two, but that’s like thinking you know someone after a short chat. To truly understand, you need to dive deeper into the Bible. It’s like the water that cleans our minds from the dust and dirt of the world, helping us see what God truly intended for us.
The Heart’s Overflow
There’s a saying from the Bible: Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). This means what’s in your heart will eventually come out in your words and actions. To truly know someone, and to be known, is to listen and share deeply, not just surface-level chatter. The same goes for our relationship with God.
The Call to Give
This week’s Torah portion is about giving from the heart. In Exodus, God asked the Israelites to contribute to building the tabernacle — a special place to meet with Him. What’s beautiful is that people gave not just from their possessions but also from their skills. They were happy to contribute their time and talents, and they ended up giving so much that Moses had to tell them to stop!
What Can You Give?
Giving isn’t just about money or things; it’s about sharing whatever you have. Maybe you have a skill you can teach others, or perhaps you want to help someone at work with something you’re good at. The point is to let your heart guide you in sharing your gifts with others. You’ll find that giving brings a joy that is hard to find in any other way.
The Blessing of a Generous Heart
When you give from your heart, God blesses you. It might not always be in the way you expect, but your generosity will come back to you in meaningful ways. Just like the Israelites, you’ll find that giving creates a bond, a sense of community and purpose, and brings you closer to God’s love.
What Will You Do?
I’m encouraging you to find out how you can give from your heart today. Whether it’s helping someone, teaching a skill, or sharing your resources. God sees your generosity and will bless it. Let your heart stir you into action, and don’t keep your goodness inside.
