I’m so glad you’re here. It’s Shirah Chanté, Relationship Artist, welcoming you to talk about the Perfect Body Podcast. I’m diving into one of my favorite activities: exploring the ancient wisdom of the Torah. This week’s focus is on the Torah portion called Shemot, which means “names,” and we’re delving into the beginning of the Book of Exodus.
A New Chapter: Transition from Genesis to Exodus
So, here we are at the start of Exodus. It’s exciting because we’ve just wrapped up Genesis. Congratulations on making it through Genesis with me! Now, we’re stepping into the second book of the Bible and witnessing the transformation of the Israelites in Egypt. They journeyed there to survive a famine, and here they’ve flourished into a mighty people. However, with a new Pharaoh unaware of Joseph’s contributions, this prosperity soon turns into subjugation.
Connecting Historical Struggles to Personal Experience
Ever felt overwhelmed by someone trying to hold you back? The new Pharaoh’s fear led to the enslavement of the Hebrews, a reaction driven by paranoia rather than reality. It’s something that resonates even today, as we all encounter challenges that attempt to keep us down.
I remember a time in New Orleans when my life felt like an uphill battle, filled with despair and bad choices. But, like the Israelites, I cried out to God, and He heard my cry. If you’re facing trials, remember, you can call out to God too, because He hears us when we call.
The Call for Deliverance
Just as God raised Moses to deliver His people, God has a plan for you. Moses’ story began with defiance against an unjust decree given by Pharaoh to kill all the Hebrew baby boys. His mother’s courage saved him as she put him in a basket on the river when he was three months old. Pharaoh’s daughter found him and raised him as her own son. After a dramatic turn of events, God called Moses to free the Israelites.
At first, Moses did not feel qualified to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Sometimes you might question your worthiness, much like Moses did when God called him to lead. Yet, God knows our potential, even when we don’t. Trust His process. It may involve waiting and struggling, but that’s where growth happens.
Facing Opposition and Holding Firm
Even Moses faced tough opposition from Pharaoh. When Moses demanded, “Let my people go,” Pharaoh responded with contempt. This only intensified the Hebrews’ suffering, yet Moses persisted. It’s a powerful reminder that faith journeys aren’t without hardship. Keep persevering, as deliverance often comes after the struggle.
A Personal Anthem and Encouragement
While reflecting on this message, I felt inspired and received a song, a spiritual gift from God. It’s a simple yet profound call for freedom and trust in deliverance. I share it with you in the hope it uplifts you too. You can listen to it on this podcast episode starting at 19:33.
Looking Forward: Know Your Time Has Come
Are you coming out of your struggles or sensing that breakthrough is near? Know that God is leading you to where you need to be. If you’re still in the heat of it, don’t give up. Good things are on the horizon. Until then, remember to love God, love yourself, and love people. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.
God bless, Shirah Chante, Relationship Artist
