God speaks in many ways, but thunder is one way. I’ve heard God’s voice in thunder before. In fact, one of the reasons I’m here studying the Torah with you is because God spoke to me in thunder. When I was standing on the side of my mom’s house and trying to figure out what I’m gonna do next. A little 24-year-old, and I was making wise decisions of heart, should I go, should I say?
And the Lord clearly spoke to me through the thunder. This is not where I want you. Where you are right now is not your destiny. If you stay here, you’re not going to achieve what I want you to achieve. I’m just saying, these are things that came later and to my understanding, but at that time it was just, you need to get outta here. This is not where I want you. I was like. Yes, Lord.
And so I left and I went to Divinity School up in Rochester, New York, Colgate, Rochester, Crozer Divinity School. And they used to have a really beautiful campus that I was able to be educated on. And while I was there looking for a place to worship, the Lord led me to worship at a reformed synagogue, B’rith Kodesh, Rabbi Kotok, whom I love, awesome awesome, awesome.
I could cry because the love that I received was so pivotal in my life. And wow. Even all these years later to know that I didn’t know the magnitude of studying the Torah at that time and didn’t think I was gonna get here. I’m just looking at how great God is. Yes, the Lord is greater than all gods.
