While Men Slept: How the Enemy Plants Tares in Your Field

There is a scripture that has been stirring in my spirit:

“While men slept, the enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat.” — Matthew 13

And I want you to hear me clearly.

This is not about condemning sleep.

God gives His beloved rest.

Psalm 127:2 says:

“It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows… for so He gives His beloved sleep.”

David was speaking to those worrying themselves sick — staying up late in sorrow, rising early in anxiety. He was saying, Go to sleep. You can’t fix it by worrying.

But here’s the balance.

Yes, we sleep.

But we also pray.

There are moments when heaven is calling you to get up.

Moments when intercession is required.

Moments when staying asleep costs you something in the spirit.

And that’s where the danger lies.

Because while men slept… the enemy came.

He didn’t plant wheat.

He planted tares.

He planted poverty.
He planted confusion.
He planted division.
He planted sickness.
He planted false doctrine.
He planted people who look like believers but are not.

Tares look like wheat at first.

They blend in.

They grow alongside the real thing.

And if you try to uproot them too early, you damage the harvest.

That’s why Jesus said:

Let them grow together until the harvest.

There are some things in your life you cannot rip out.

But you can cancel their effect.

And I learned this the hard way.

One night, the Lord showed me something in a vision.

I saw a witch.

She was holding a small Ziploc sandwich bag.

Inside that bag was dirt, just a little earth.

And the Lord revealed to me that this dirt was being used to plant evil seed into my life.

Tares.

I asked the Lord, “How did this happen?”

And the answer came back clear:

You slept when you should have been praying.

Not physical rest, God gives rest.

But there are moments when intercessors are called to rise.

Moments when prayer is required to guard the field.

The enemy knows prayer cancels his assignments.

That’s why he sends unusual tiredness.

Distraction.
Oppression.
Heaviness.
Bread of sorrows.

To keep you from praying.

But repentance is powerful.

So I repented.

“Father, forgive me for sleeping when I should have been praying.”

And here’s the revelation:

You may not be able to pull up every tare.

But you can bind its influence.

You can cancel its effect.

You can reverse the curse.

The proverb says the pit they dug they fall into it.

So we prayed.

We bound the tares.

We declared they would have no effect.

And as we prayed, I saw something powerful.

The dirt the enemy tried to use against us was being thrown back on them.

The same ground they used to plant destruction became their grave.

We didn’t uproot the tare.

We buried its impact.

And then worship began.

And that’s when it happened.

I saw Yeshua.

Jesus Himself.

He came and finished the burial.

He shoveled the final dirt.

He placed a marker in the ground.

This is the death of that tare in your life.

Some battles are not won by striving.

They are won by praying.
Fasting.
Worshiping.

Remaining faithful.

The tares may grow beside you.

But they will not overtake you.

Stay alert.
Stay prayerful.
Stay discerning.

Because while men slept, the enemy planted.

But when the righteous rise, heaven responds.
