Why Midnight Matters: When God Moves in the Night Watches

Hello and welcome to Midnight Prayer. I am Shirah Chante, relationship coach, and I am here to pray tonight. I decided to get on at midnight to pray and to intercede for anyone who needs it. In the Bible, they talk about praying in the night watches. David in the Psalms talks about prayer at midnight, and a lot of different scriptures talk about things happening at midnight.

In fact, in the Torah portion we just passed in the book of Exodus, it says that at midnight there was a great cry in Egypt. This was when God was delivering the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, the final plague, the death of the firstborn. It happened at midnight. There was a great cry at midnight. So things happen at midnight. God works His mighty power at midnight, and it’s explicit in this great deliverance that He wrought for the children of Israel.

Prayer is very important. It’s something I started doing many years ago, and it is so effective and so needed. We need to intercede. We need to ask God for what we need, what we desire, and for His help. Prayer is vital to our lives. That’s why it’s a good thing that we are here at midnight to pray.

What I usually do when I begin to pray is start by praising the Lord. Sometimes I sing a song. Sometimes I just praise Him. We want to enter into the presence of the Lord with a worshipful heart as we come into prayer. It’s not about me, not about how I sound, not about anything else, it’s all about Jesus. We get the focus off ourselves and worship Him because He is worthy.

God bless, Shirah Chante, your relationship coach
