Your Gift is Very Rare

Gifts are really fun to receive. There is a proverb that says your gift will make room for you (Proverbs 18:16). You might have the gift of singing. How many doors have been open to you because an audience wanted to hear your voice? What is one of the most memorable moments you have as a singer? It’s not by accident, that people want to hear you sing. It’s your gift that is speaking up for you, beckoning you to show the world what you’ve got.

Wait, there’s something missing…there’s more to this proverb than meets the eye. The entire proverb says, “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.” GREAT MEN, WOW! Who do you consider to be great men in your life? Is Bill Gates great? What about Oprah? Or maybe it’s your high school math teacher who you think is great because he transformed you from a wimpy math student into a master of math.

Whoever you think is great, get ready to be in his or her presence. But it takes one more thing. How will they know about your gift if you don’t share it? Are you afraid to sing? Come on, don’t be shy. People love gifts. Think about it. When Christmas time comes, you just can’t wait to open your presents.

I just realized that gifts are also called presents or is it PRESENCE? Remember, the proverb, “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.” If you’re before someone, you’re in their PRESENCE. Whose presence do you want to adorn? Use your gifts to get you there. SHARE, SHARE, Share! And you will make friends unaware. The LORD will lead you in prayer. The lion is in his lair. You have strange hair. Your gift is very rare.
