Scripture:
Acts 20:35
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Giving is often misunderstood. Many people think giving is only about money, but God’s idea of giving is much bigger than that. Giving includes our time, our attention, our kindness, and our willingness to help others.
In the podcast episode Glee: Happy New Year, we talk about how giving is one of the ways we draw near to God. When we give, we move beyond ourselves and begin to see others the way God sees them.
This scripture reminds us that giving brings blessing, not because God wants to take something from us, but because giving shapes our hearts. Joyful giving flows from love, compassion, and gratitude. It reflects God’s generous nature, because God is the greatest giver of all.
Sometimes giving looks small—listening to someone who needs to be heard, offering encouragement, helping without being asked. These quiet acts matter deeply to God.
When we practice giving with joy, our faith becomes active. Our hearts grow softer. Giving teaches us that life is not only about what we receive, but about how we reflect God’s love to others.
If you haven’t already, I invite you to listen to the full podcast episode Glee: Happy New Year from Teens Draw Near to God. It explores joy, worship, and giving as practical ways to start the new year drawing closer to God.
✍🏽 Reflection
What is one way I can give today—my time, kindness, or help?
How can I give with a joyful heart instead of feeling forced?
🙏 Prayer
Lord, help me to give freely and joyfully. Open my eyes to the needs of others and teach me to reflect Your generosity in my everyday life. Amen.
