Spread the love

So much happened in 2025. Now we’re in 2026, and you know how we do, we think about the year. How was the year? How did 2025 pan out for us? What happened good? What happened bad? The last two years have been a whirlwind for me. From the beginning to the end it was amazing. It hasn’t all been easy, but it’s been very eye-opening and very wonderful. I’m so thankful to God for everything He revealed to me concerning my life, and especially my love life.

When I was 18 years old, I went away to college in New Orleans, Louisiana. I’m from Houston, Texas. I went on an academic scholarship to Dillard University. I was a cheerleader, and I had an Algebra II class I really didn’t want to take because I had already taken calculus in high school, but I followed the counselor’s advice and enrolled anyway. I walked into that class and saw a young man. I instinctively said, “Hi.” That young man became someone I dated,  someone I wrote this song about, someone the Lord revealed to me these past two years.

We met in the early 90s, around 1993. He was 19. I was 18. What I didn’t understand then was that this was real love. We didn’t understand what God had given us. The ending wasn’t good. It was painful. We didn’t end up together, and I carried that unresolved ending for years without realizing it.

On December 31, 2023, after not speaking for more than 30 years, I talked to him. The Lord had been prompting me to reach out, and I finally obeyed. Through that conversation, God revealed so much to me about why I had been struggling to fall in love, why I had been searching and wondering what was wrong. It was tied to that original love. I needed to clear the airway. I needed resolution so I could move forward.

Since that conversation, my life has catapulted. I’ve been pushed into destiny in ways I felt were delayed for years. Love is serious to God. God is love. Sometimes healing your future means resolving your past.
