You Will Prosper: The Psalm 1 Blueprint for a Blessed Life

You are going to be blessed by Psalm 1, one of my favorite Psalms written by King David. You Will Prosper. Isn’t that good news? I mean, I want to be in a place that tells me I’m going to do well. I’m going to make it. I’m going to defeat my enemies. I’m going to complete my destiny. I am going to prosper. And you are going to prosper too.

Psalm 1 says: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.” So if we want to prosper, we have to pay attention. Step one: Don’t walk in the counsel of the ungodly. That means don’t take advice from people who are not following God. Maybe they’re not trying to be evil, but the advice they’re giving isn’t godly. It’s not according to the Word of God. If you want to prosper, get godly counsel. Find someone who can speak life into you.

Step two: Don’t stand in the path of sinners. I’m not talking about someone who makes a mistake and asks God for forgiveness. We all make mistakes. I’m talking about someone who is willingly disobedient to God constantly. Someone who is against God. You don’t need to stand there trying to study what they’re doing. You don’t need to learn evil in order to fight evil. Just pray. Stay planted. They cannot defeat you if you are walking with God.

Step three: Don’t sit in the seat of the scornful. That means don’t become someone who mocks what is holy. Don’t be the person who disdains people because they love God. If it’s not your belief, fine. But don’t be scornful. Everyone has free will. Everyone has their people. You don’t need to be nasty about someone else’s faith.

But here’s the good part: “His delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” That’s how you become blessed. You love the Word. You think about it morning and night. Not just in church. Not just around other believers. Day and night. It can be simple. You can be walking down the street, see flowers, and remember Jesus said, “Look at the flowers.” That’s meditation. That’s relationship.

When you live like that, you will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. You will bear fruit in your season. Your leaf will not wither. And whatever you do shall prosper.

You are like a tree planted by the river.
It’s your season.
You will prosper.
